Roman Tewolde, one of Ethiopia’s most influential reading-culture advocates on social media, has officially released her new autobiography “ዮዲታ” (Yodita). The book, published on November 14, 2025, shares her personal story growing up in a prominent Ethiopian family and reflects on the experiences that shaped her life.
Roman is the daughter of the celebrated scientist Dr. Tewolde-Berhan Gebre-Egziabher and ecological activist Sue Edwards—figures widely respected in Ethiopia and beyond. In Yodita, she offers a brief yet heartfelt look into her childhood, family legacy, and memories of Asmara during a transformative period in Ethiopian and Eritrean history.
The book also touches on the influence of well-known family members, including writer Sibhat Gebre-Egziabher and Yoseph Gebre-Egziabher, adding literary and historical depth to her story.
“ዮድታ” is now available in paperback, making it one of the most anticipated new Ethiopian books of the year, especially among readers who follow Roman’s work online and her efforts to promote a reading culture.
